Ingredients
For the Cake:

5 cups powdered sugar

3–4 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans. -
Mix the Batter
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk. -
Color & Layer
Divide batter evenly into 4 bowls. Add a few drops of different gel food colors to each and mix. Layer each colored batter in the pans randomly or in a rainbow pattern. -
Bake
Bake for 25–30 minutes. Let cakes cool completely. -
Make the Frosting
Beat butter until fluffy. Slowly mix in powdered sugar. Add cream and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Divide into separate bowls, tint each with food coloring.

Decorate
Stack the cakes with buttercream between layers. Apply a crumb coat. Chill briefly, then apply the final coat. Pipe colorful rosettes for the unicorn mane. Add horn, ears, and draw eyes with black icing or use toppers.
