This homemade Starbucks Banana Bread tastes just like the real thing — moist, flavorful, and packed with ripe bananas and chopped walnuts. Easy to make and perfect for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or a sweet treat alongside your favorite coffee.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 and 1/2 cups ripe bananas, mashed (about 3 bananas)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup chopped walnuts, plus extra for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper if desired for easy removal.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
Gently fold in the buttermilk until incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
Fold in the chopped walnuts.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle extra walnuts on top if desired.
Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread soft and moist.
Store banana bread wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
Banana bread freezes well for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
Add chocolate chips for a fun twist, or substitute pecans for the walnuts if preferred.
